It's Groundhog Day!

If you find the movie Groundhog Day annoying or stupid, then you have poor taste in movies. ;) I don't remember the first time I saw it, but at some point it became a movie I watched with my mom, and now the holiday makes me think of her. We usually contact each other to wish one another a happy Groundhog Day. Have a good one, Mom. :)

Something special about this year is that the date is 2/2/11! Fun patterns, good times.

I'm writing this the night before, so I don't know what this year's prediction will be, but it seems like Punxsutawney Phil always sees his shadow. I've never read up on who gets to decide that, or how they decide. I can't remember the last time they predicted an early spring, but in the words of Phil: "I'm predicting March 21st."

Anyway, I watched several clips on YouTube before I settled on this one. I haven't watched the full movie in years--I should probably buy a copy one day. Okay, enjoy!

  1. I haven't seen the movie in years! But I now know the groundhog did not see his shadow this year. He has only not seen his shadow like 18 times compared with seeing it like 87 times. Forgive me if those numbers aren't correct. Apparently this year he's also predicting the Superbowl winners to be the Steelers. I hope he gets a raise if they are expecting him to predict more than the season now. -R

  2. Oh he didn't? I was kind of hoping he would this time. :/ Though I'm not sure why, since it doesn't actually mean anything. :P

  3. I can't believe you still don't own this movie when you enjoy it so much. :)

I agree that it seems like he NEVER sees his shadow, but he did this year! I saw the event live right after I woke up this morning. :)

  4. Wait...he did or didn't see his shadow? I said he always sees it, meaning always six more weeks of winter. I guess I could just look it up. :P

  5. Oh man, I'm all confusing! I was wording myself wrong in response to R's comment. Yay for him NOT seeing his shadow this year! Like R said, and like I have gathered, that is rare for them to decide. I was very much hoping this year would be different than usual! :) :) I know it's a silly thing, but it just seemed like it was high time for the right turnout.

  6. He didn't see his shadow as i predicted. I had a feeling he wouldn't because of the storms over there. ;)
I've never seen the movie; never had the chance!

  7. Samantha R. You should watch the movie. It's a good one. Make sure to watch it on a day just set aside for the movie, not while you are cleaning house.
Thanks, Jessica for thinking of me. I definately thought of you.

  9. I love Groundhog Day, and not just because Andie MacDowell is in it. Well, ok that's like 85% of the reason, but still it's a good flick : )
