Marchy March

I've been taking so many pictures. In my neighborhood, at the park, at work...I don't want to miss anything. Even though I've taken pictures of the same flowers for years, I keep thinking I can do a better job this time. In many cases, I do think I improve each year, but I also just have a weird addiction to photographing pretty things over and over. I have to make sure I get the shot! ;)

Right now my March folder has 384 photos, but that's after I have gone through and narrowed them down a ton (I usually keep fewer than half of what I take, and I really need to be even more ruthless about it). For being early March, that's a lot. Wait until things really get going in a few weeks!

Anyway, I thought I'd pick a few favs to post here, since I'll never actually catch up. These were chosen without much thought--just whatever struck my fancy tonight.

I'm hooked on blossom photos lately, so you'll see a lot of those. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know this!

I just love how smooth these look at this stage.

There were lots of cute little spirals at a park I went to the other day. I didn't get any good photos, but had to show you the cuteness.

This squirrel let me get pretty close before it ran off. It just sat there eating whatever that is, knowing I was about 8 feet away taking pictures. Those are tulips behind him, which I didn't get good photos of. Later, I will! I didn't even know tulips were blooming yet!

Enjoy your weekend, if I don't talk to you! My friend and I discovered there are three "holidays" this weekend: Friday the 13th, Pi Day and the Ides of March (which is also my cousin's birthday)! My friend Dania suggested celebrating with a Jason movie, a piece of pie and a Caesar salad. :D Feel free to enjoy one or more of those. I will take a giant piece of apple pie a la mode, please!

Dewy pictures I took at Christmas

One morning during Christmas break, we woke up to a lot of fog outside. After breakfast I decided to go outside with my camera, and some of my nieces joined me at various points to observe the dew on the plants around my parents' yard. It was a fun nature break!

One of just a couple of remaining roses.

I had N stand behind the rosebud on the right so I could have her pink shirt as a background.

A closer crop on this rose.

My main fog companion, N. She was so sweet as she helped me find things to photograph and seemed genuinely in awe of all the pretty little details we came across. She also found some walnuts that the crows had dropped.

The previous night, someone found a little snail, so K held it up for me.

These remind me of those outdoor strings of lights that they have at parties and restaurants.

I went a little photo crazy on this.

I also had L stand behind it so she could show up in the droplets.

Thanks for looking!

Lupine and stuff

The other day my coworker told me about all the lupine growing in the field across the street from our offices, and urged me to take pictures. So I stayed late one night and took several of the lupine as well as some other scenes. All of these photos were taken with our office camera, which is a Nikon D700.

(By the way, I thought I had more photos from when I rented the macro lens, but it turns out I'm done with those. Until next time I rent it. :D)

Earlier in the day I had noticed some columbine growing by a coworker's office. I liked the coloring of the wall behind it and asked if I could barge in and take pictures through her window.

And now it's evening. The nice thing about evening photos is that I can practice incorporating flare.

I love evening light! (Who doesn't?) And check out all the little evergreen trees sprouting up.

I went out the following day with better shoes on so I could walk further into the field.

I had a hard time narrowing these down, sorry. I wanted you to get a good idea of what I saw.

Okay no more lupine. Here are some weeds instead!

I have a thing for these more textury types of pictures.

One of the dogwoods at work.

Caw!

The scotch broom is all in bloom, which is what aggravates my allergies the most. So I decided to walk around near it.

Thanks for looking!

Last night I went to the rose garden, so I have several rose pictures I will post one day. I also have some from the iris garden, but am debating whether to post them since they aren't all that exciting. It is exciting to have so many flowers blooming around me, though! And now we've had a bit of rain and we're at our peak of green. How's the weather for you?
