[2/1/13: This giveaway is now closed--I'll be announcing the winners soon!]
The other day I had a work assignment to create a Valentine's card for one of my coworkers to send out. Going through all of the adorable Valentine graphics got me feeling festive and heart-tastic. I think the vibrant reds and soft pinks have magical powers.
I always get into the Valentine spirit in the weeks leading up to it, even though Valentine's Day itself isn't usually anything special for me. I often have big ideas for gifts and cards I want to send people in my life, and I quickly become overwhelmed and end up narrowing things down (or doing nothing at all). This year I decided I could use my blog for a Valentine outlet, so I put together two Valentine "stockings" to give to two of you!
TO ENTER: All you have to do is comment here on this post! Tell me something you like about Valentine's Day, if anything. If you have trouble commenting or don't have an account to sign in with, you may email me at [email removed] and let me know you're entering. (If you have my personal email address, feel free to use that instead.)
♥ You'll just be entered once, even if you comment multiple times. :)
♥ I'm not going to mail anything internationally (sorry!), so you have to either live in the USA or have someone here that you want me to send it to.
♥ Most of the gift contents are girly, but guys may enter and just give away the stuff they don't want!
♥ In the coming weeks I will draw two names and announce the winners in my blog!
♥ Good luck and thanks for reading my blog! I wish I could send you all presents.
Just to clarify, friends, family an strangers are all welcome to enter!
This is a cute idea! When I was young I always looked forward to the Valentine's Day parties at school, and getting all of the fun cards. Even now I like going down that aisle and checking out the boxes of cards. :)
ReplyDeleteOooooo, how fun!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat I love most about this day is making it not solely about romance! Most of my best valentines go to friends and family!
This is too fun Jessica!
ReplyDeleteTonight I'm bringing out my valentine quilts for the living room/ dining room. I love the excuse for red without it having to be Christmas!
Yes yes yes! I would like to enter!!! I love Valentine's Day. I love the decor and the good reminders to tell those near and dear to us that we love them. I like to send Valentine's and I love conversation hearts. We have love bundles for our kids on Valentine's Day (similar to Christmas stockings except on Valentine's Day with v-day themed things like cute socks, conversation hearts... stuff like that). We all dress in red and pink and try to add as many hearts as possible. ;) It's all around great fun!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if relatives are allowed to enter, but you know I'm going to comment either way.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea, Jessica! You are so creative and thoughtful. I may have to borrow this idea sometime (but not for Valentine's ... I'm not that organized).
If I'm allowed, I'd like to enter. But if sisters are automatically disqualified, I completely understand. :)
Oooh, yes, me! Me! I would love to be entered. You're so nice to do this, and it looks like you did a great job choosing items.
ReplyDeleteOh! And I almost forgot to say what I like about Valentine's day. I love getting our kids something red or pink to wear and taking a picture of them in it -- altogether, matchy.
ReplyDeletePlus, bonus, red and bright pink are colors (when I wear them) that gain me the most compliments. They must be "my color." And who isn't inspired to wear pink or red around Valentine's Day?! Get in the spirit, people! :D
Oops... I forgot my Google ID is so vague. BGM is me, Bethany, violetvale. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun is this!!! I might be inspired by you.... LOL! ;) ~Anna
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica! My husband will be out of town this Valentines Day I believe, so we'll have to have an early or late celebration. Also- that's an exciting calendar week- Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and Valetine's day all in a row.
ReplyDeleteR - Yes, of course relatives can enter! This is my giveaway and I get to make the rules. :) In fact, you can have your kids and nieces email me if they want to enter! L follows my blog through email but I'm not sure how often she checks it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Valentine's Day is that it's my parents wedding anniversary! But my second favorite thing ... is buying on-sale candy and roses the day after. ;)
ReplyDeleteFun!!! I'm trying to think of fun ideas for my high school kids for Valentine's Day. And something cute for my animals. And my fiance, of course.
ReplyDeleteRED. and CHOCOLATE. and all the lacy pretty cards I used to make before I was too busy to do such things.
ReplyDeleteBut especially chocolate. (Oh wait. Chocolate is the answer to ALL questions, right?)
(Clearly I'm not craving chocolate right now)
Oh fun! I have always liked Valentine's Day, because of the colors and cute hearts. :) Also the warmth it seems to bring in what is often a dismal month around here!
ReplyDeleteI love Valentine's day - it is so sweet and fun and candy-filled.

What a fun idea! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't love Valentine's Day in and of itself, but like you, I think all of the colors and decorations are so cute and fun!
I love Valentine's Day, even though it can be somewhat like Christmas when you get stressed trying to come up with a wonderful idea that expresses your love to your sweetie. I love watching her reaction when I've nailed it. :)
ReplyDeleteFun! I don't really have anything to say about Valentine's Day, but who doesn't like fun gift packages?
ReplyDeleteHearts are cute, and chocolate is yummy! I especially like finding good deals on candy and flowers right after Valentine's Day.
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks, Jessica!
ReplyDeleteHey, Jessica, your niece, J, said she definitely wants to enter. She doesn't have her own profile though, so this comment will have to be for her. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat she likes about Valentine's Day: CANDY, of course.
I LOVE Valentine's Day, even though I've never technically had a "Valentine". I loved it as a kid because we got to make Valentine mailboxes and give each other candy, and I love it now because it's so easy to find things that are red and pink and heart-shaped for my kitchen!
ReplyDeleteI like that Valentine's is a day to tell EVERYONE you love that you love them!
ReplyDeleteHow cool are you?! Yes, very. :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking I don't really get into V day that much, and then I realized I decorated for it already when I took down Christmas, so... I guess I'm right in there! :)
The thing I like about Valentine's Day is that it doesn't matter if you are single, in a relationship, or married, you can go out of your way to express love to those around you in special (even if simple) ways.
ReplyDeleteYou always come up with good ideas for Valentine's Day. You must be related to your dad :) I have many fond memories of Valentine's Day, mostly because Dad always remembers to treat me so special.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved cards, flowers and (of course) candy!
I Love you! Mom
Oh! I enjoyed reading all the comments, but I just thought, is there a deadline date?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder on Twitter about the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteValentine's day seems to mean something new every year for me, but the one constant is that I get to experiment with (or just plain eat) chocolate stuff and that's always good. :-D Last year I threw a Valentine's day tea, but I haven't decided if I'm going to do it again this year.
WOW! This brings back memories of being a kid and looking forward to selecting just the right box of prepackaged Valentine's that would convey my style and personality to a room full of 30 second graders. I'm pretty sure Strawberry Shortcake won that year - I mean, afterall, a girl wearing a pink and red bonnet just smacks of Valentine-ness. Now that I'm more grown up, I still appreciate the fact that my mother-in-law likes to celebrate the day by giving us a Hallmark card filled with sweet sentiments and a giftcard to some local eatery.
ReplyDeleteJCR: If you're tracking this post/see this comment, could you please get in touch with me so I can get your contact info? I will draw a new name tomorrow if I don't hear back. Thanks.
