Friday

I know I haven't been as bloggy lately. Aside from work stuff, I haven't been taking very many photos. Certainly nothing naturey. There are other things I can post here, but I still feel like I need to have photo-filled blog posts. Someone recently mentioned that they noticed I wasn't focusing as much on photography here, and it made me a little self-conscious about the blog.

This past month I've been not quite myself. At first I was sick, and then various other factors have just thrown me off.

Anyway, I wanted to check in. The photo is of some berries I picked at work the other day. I made some cobbler (it wasn't photogenic) and also froze some for smoothies. Have you been blackberry picking this year?

  1. I don't even know if they have blackberries here, but those ones look absolutely scrumptious. Gorgeous picture, too.

I do love all the pictures, but I'm not personally offended when you do non-photo posts. I think people have a lot of sides to them and if you lock yourself into just being the picture-lady, it can get a little stressful or boring, don't you think?

    It's good to diversify. :)

Sorry to hear you have been sick. No fun there. Hope you're doing better and recovering lost time (spent resting) as best you can.

I have missed your posts and your comments over at my blog -- so there is a noticeable absence. No pressure intended here ... just wanted to tell you you're missed.

  2. Oh, I just saw your twitter feed that a photo of yours was chosen for the fair. That's awesome. I hope you blog more about it soon.

I ended up not getting it together to submit anything this year -- too much going on and I have to be careful what I sign up for at this time. But maybe by next summer. :)

  3. R - starting with your second comment. No, I don't know that my photo was "chosen," though I know it's in the exhibit. My tweets say that I'm not sure if maybe they're just letting every photo in, which would greatly annoy me. Today I was thinking of that story where Z got really annoyed about the Easter egg "hunt" where they just laid the eggs all out in the field. That's how I feel about the fair putting up ALL the photos. I'm also annoyed because they didn't send our scores or any notifications this year, and now the fair has already started. It's frustrating.

I'm not saying I should lock myself into being the picture lady (though I do like having at least one picture so that my "You might also like" widget has a photo to use), I'm just saying what someone said, and how it made me feel. I get the impression (from several people) they would much rather see photos than read my writing here. :P So I guess I put some pressure on myself because of that.

Yeah I have been at least skimming your posts but I don't always know what to say in response. I don't always have the energy to come up with anything, either.

  4. I understand. :)

I do like that widget, though I haven't had the energy to get it set up on my blog ... plus, yeah, I definitely don't have a picture for every post.

I've grown to accept skimmers. It's fine, I write because it helps me and if people don't have time to read or comment, it's okay.

That would be weird if they just exhibited all pictures -- unless there weren't many submissions? Are you going to the fair to check it out?

  5. R - I'm not sure if I'll be going to the fair. I don't want to go alone, but I don't want to go for a really long day either (like some of my friends do). Plus it's not the cheapest excursion. We'll see.

  6. I have not been berry picking... I need to look into that.

    That berry photo is beautiful!

I like what you have to say with or without pictures!

  7. I just went picking blackberries today with my son, then we made a pie for dinner. I made shepherd's pie for the main course, and Dylan said "why are we just having pie for dinner?" : )

  8. I saw this post on my phone on Saturday. I love the lucious photo of black berries.
While Dad and I were walking down to the beach in Mendocino we noticed the black berry bushes on the side of the path. I picked one and ate it. Dad said, "Now you can tell Jessica that you went berry picking." :)

  9. Yum, blackberries! And blackberry cobbler? Delic!

I didn't really go "picking" but I did grab a few from the bushes by the basketball court when I got home from a walk the other day : )
